Q: What is this?

A: This is the website for a Homestuck group chat, known as What Are Life. We have a small, friendly group with bases on Skype, Discord, Steam and even on this site! We do quite a bit of calling, chatting and video games as well as quite a few special events! We're always looking for members, so if you happen to have come across this site and are sort of curious, please join! At very least I will love you :)

Q: Why is this group called "What Are Life?"

​

A: It was a beautiful typo made by someone I know. The group was originally going to have a land name like Land of Wind and  Shade, but What Are Life sounded nicer :D

Q: Wow it sounds like you have a rich history! Where can I check up on your many exploits?

 

A: A bit more info on us can be found in the About tab if you're in to that sort of thing ;)

Q: Can I have more than one Homestuck name to identify as?

​

A: No.

​

Q: Does it have to be a canon character from within the Homestuck webcomic?

​

A: Yes, for the love of all that is good.

​

Q: How do I know if the character I want has been taken?

​

A: Check the Members tab.

​

Q: Do I need to choose a character and put it in my application?

​

A: Yes. You will not be allowed into the group until you choose a character.

​

Q: I'm going on vacation, will I get kicked for inactivity?

​

A: If you tell a moderator, than no.

​

​

Q: If I'm kicked/banned will I get my name back when I rejoin?

​

A: Yes unless someone else has taken it during your absence.

​

Q: Why are you Hussie, but we're all normal Homestuck characters?

​

A: Hussie has himself in the comic as a character, so I'm Hussie from within the comic.

​

Q: Are you the real Andrew Hussie?

​

A: No.

​

Q: Is playful hate allowed?

​

A: As long as those involved finds it playful :D

Q: I put in an application, but I'm not being added to the group. What's going wrong??? (PART ONE)

​

A: The two most likely options are that you didn't read the IMPORTANT NOTICE in the APPLY tab that clearly asks you to add

The Huss (Elisha/Trish/Me/etc...) on Skype (or send an email) and tell them that you sent in an application. If you're not in his or Hal's contacts, we can't add you to the group. The other option is that neither Hussie or Hal have looked recently looked at the applications or are offline.  You can email Hussie's fake email account, blackshyguy@gmail.com if you're having problems.

Q: I put in an application, but I'm not being added to the group. What's going wrong??? (PART TWO)

​

A: There's a link with the necessary questions in the APPLY tab. IF YOU DO NOT USE THEM YOUR APPLICATION MAY BE CONSIDERED VOID, so please make sure you use the questions in the link :) You will likely receive an email notification if you missed something in your application and did not yet contact Hussie or Hal on Skype.

Q: Where is the announcements board/tab?

​

A: It's in a drop-down menu under the "OTHER" tab.

​

Q: I hate this background and I can hardly read a thing without highlighting text, can you change it?

​

A: Yes, but we don't have a better picture at the moment. If you can find one, please send it to Hussie. UPDATE: We're working on it, and at very least this tab should be legible now (hopefully).

Q: I hear there's also a What Are Life Discord group! Where do I sign up?

​

A: If you want to join the Discord group, add it to you application or contact any owner or moderator on Skype. Staff positions may vary on Discord, if you want to know how, check the Staff tab.

​

Q: I've read the Rules and the FAQ and I think I'm ready now. Where do I go from here?

​

A: With talent like this, you can go anywhere. The Apply tab, however, would be my personal recommendation.

​

Q: What are life?

​

A: I don't even know.
